JetBlue’s Boston expansion continues: now flying to Aruba and San Diego

JetBlue announces Syracuse-Fort Lauderdale daily service

JetBlue Airways announced plans to commence a new service between Syracuse and Fort Lauderdale, effective 01-Nov-07. The airline will operate once daily service on the route year-round, providing Syracuse with its only non-stop link to South Florida.

The Syracuse-Fort Lauderdale route announcement comes a day after the airline announced plans to add a new service between Buffalo and Fort Lauderdale, also effective 01-Nov-07.

From Syracuse Hancock International Airport, JetBlue currently operates four-times daily to New York/JFK and once daily to Orlando.

Allegiant Air adds low-cost Las Vegas flight

Allegiant Air, the low-cost airline serving Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, announced Wednesday morning that it will be adding no ns top service from Greenville to Las Vegas. For a limited time, tickets to Las Vegas will cost about $89 each way.

Allegiant Air’s main hubs are Orlando and its headquarters city of Las Vegas. The airline serves 56 other cities, though flights in many are scheduled only two days a week.

The addition of the Las Vegas flight follows the addition in January of flights to the Tampa/St. Petersburg, Fla., area.

Aer Arann launches new Galway route

Aer Arann today launched a new service from Galway to Newcastle.

The flights will operate four days a week. departing Galway at 6.30pm on Monday, Thursday and Friday and 7.15pm on Sunday. The return flight will depart Newcastle at 8.25pm on Monday, Thursday and Friday and 9.10pm on Sunday with a flight time of one hour and 25 minutes.

easyJet to Austria and Romania

Budget airline debuts Israel flights

Thomsonfly has become the first budget airline to offer flights to Israel. The low-fare carrier will start services to Tel Aviv from Manchester and Luton airports on November 1, with one-way fares from £79.99. Three flights a week will be on offer to and from the Israeli city.

Thomsonfly commercial director Guy Stephenson said: “‘Our decision to launch into Tel Aviv will satisfy the huge demand for direct flights to this exciting Israeli city. The Israeli economy is strong and visitor numbers from the UK are up this year, which is a positive backdrop to the launch of new services.'”

Dragonair airline to expand in China

A top executive with Hong Kong-based Dragonair says the airline plans to expand to a number of major destinations throughout China.

Dragonair Chief Executive Officer Kenny Tang said as part of an effort by the airline to strengthen its network, the company will soon begin offering travel services to several other top Chinese destinations, Xinhua, the nation’s official news agency, reported Sunday.

“‘We are pleased to bring more flexibility and convenience for mainland travelers. The addition of these extra services gives travelers more options, while we can help attract more mainland tourists to visit Hong Kong and boost the economy,'” Tang said.

Air Canada expands service to China in July

Air Canada will double its daily Beijing-Vancouver service and increase its Shanghai-Toronto non-stop flights in July, the carrier’s Beijing Office said on Sunday.

“‘These added flights represent an increased capacity of nearly 50 percent for the growing Chinese market, which continues to thrive due to strength in both leisure and business travel,'” said Daniel Shurz, vice president of Network Planning of Air Canada.

The added Beijing-Vancouver daily flight will operate between July 2 and October 1, using a 211-seat Boeing 767-300 plane.

Effective on July 1, The Shanghai-Toronto service will increase to daily service starting for the summer peak and continue as a three-day-a-week service for the 2007-2008-winter schedule.

Northwest Airlines Initiates New Nonstop Service Between Dallas And New York

Northwest Airlines on Friday revealed a new service between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and New York’s LaGuardia International Airport beginning Sept. 5, 2007. The company noted that the new service would be operated with Northwest’s modern Airbus A319 aircraft. Northwest is a member of SkyTeam, an airline alliance that offers extensive global networks.

Jet Airways to start service to Toronto, Newark

Jet Airways is starting operations between Totonto and New Delhi via Brussels from Sep 5, and will fly to this city five times a week, the airline’s founder and chairman Naresh Goyal said.

The airline has also firmed up plans to start a service to Newark in New Jersey from Aug 5, Goyal said, adding that the fares to both these sectors would be competitive without compromising on the service.

”Canada was on our radar the minute we were allowed to fly internationally in January 2005. Canada-India trade is growing every day and so is travel between our two countries,” he said.
