Wizz Air, central & eastern Europe’s largest low cost-low fare airline, today announced its move to an all inclusive pricing structure.

From today, all fares will be quoted inclusive of taxes, charges and handling fees. Fares start from as low as 19.99.

Natasa Kázmér, head of Corporate Communication and Public Affairs for Wizz Air said: “We have been applying all inclusive fares in a number of markets to-date and today we can announce that we plan to roll it out throughout the entire network”.

With no end in the sight to the Scandinavian Airlines System cabin crew strike, the airline has decided to cancel flights to, from and within Sweden on Tuesday, making it the fifth day in a row.

Some 800 crew members walked off the job on Friday, after negotiators failed to reach an agreement over working conditions linked to the airline’s offer of a 10.2 per cent pay rise over 3 years.

low-cost airline Jet2.com has launched two new services from its base at Newcastle International Airport.

The airline, which now flies to 16 destinations from the North-East, has added services to two popular locations in the Canary Islands to the list.

The inaugural flights to Gran Canaria and Lanzarote will leave Newcastle on October 29 and November 1 respectively, in time for the beginning of the winter 2007-8 season, and tickets are now on sale, priced from £54.99 one way, including taxes.

2007 is proving to be a busy year for new, low cost airlines around the world. In the United States, two of the most recent low cost carriers to enter the air travel arena have had much different routes to starting up.

Skybus launched itself as a low cost contender by advertising $10 airfares that would be available on all of its flights. Seats at that price are of course limited, but it is an airfare special that is not set to expire anytime soon.

Virgin America has had a different experience. It has had to fight past objections by several airlines regarding ownership, and a few years later, has been able to secure FAA approval.

Irish low-cost airline Ryanair accounted for 60 per cent of complaints to Ireland’s Commission for Aviation Regulation, The Irish Times reported Friday.

Complaints about flight cancellations and delays at Irish airports were much higher for Ryanair than any other airline, figures from the commission showed.

Cabin staff at Scandinavian airlines SAS’s unit in Sweden began a strike Friday, grounding hundreds of European and domestic flights after talks between unions and management broke down.

Scandinavian Airlines Sweden, part of SAS AB, cancelled 300 flights, affecting 20,000 passengers, and said it would cancel up to 150 on Saturday.

A new low-cost airline is being launched this summer offering cheap flights to Verona in Italy for as little as €35 (£24) including taxes.

The Air Italy airline will be running 12 flights per week from London Stansted airport from June 1st 2007.

The airline is based in Verona and will operate flights to Barcelona, Madrid, Berlin, Moscow, Prague, Sofia and Warsaw from the city.
